I remember it well in my own businesses…… I felt completely naive and not wanting to let on this was my first experience in hiring staff, I made plenty of mistakes and most of them came back to haunt me, but that is another story…….
I attended a College networking event last week, not a business to business event, but a business to student one. I do this regularly, not just because I enjoy it (which I do) and not just because I want to help the students (which I like to do), but also for some selfish reasons, it gives me a great insight into the contextual view of business from younger people.

I have just re-visited an article by Saul McLeod on Stanley Milgram’s experiment studying authority on obedience. This sprung out of some other work I had been doing on leadership and management, and a particular passage in Simon Sineks latest book ‘leaders eat last’.
We've all taken phone calls from recruitment consultants. Sometimes it's to flatter you into leaving a job you're happy in, to work for the headhunter's client. But as your career develops, it's more likely because they've seen you're advertising for staff and want to help - at a cost. Rightly or wrongly, recruitment companies don't enjoy the best of reputations.
